Wales Assembly

The National Assembly for Wales is the democratically elected body that represents the interests of Wales and its people, makes laws for Wales, and holds the Welsh Government to account. As we know, Wales has the local language, and the Welsh is the Wales language, there are some different between english and welsh, such as Senedd, Oriel, Neuadd and Siambr, translationed to english are Parliament, Gallery, Hall and Chamber.

 

The Senedd building is located in cardiff city, and it was opened in 2006, is situated in a prime position on the waterfront in Cardiff Bay. The Senedd is situated on the waterfront in Cardiff Bay, and it faces south west and looks out over a spectacular panorama of sky and water. The building has three floors.

 

Devolution is the statutory granting of powers from the central government of a sovereign state to government at a subnational level. Devolution can be mainly financial. However, the power to make legislation relevant to the area may also be granted. And when you are standing in front of Senedd, you can see there is a reception centre in front of you and what likes a ' funnel' (i think it likes a tree more than funnel) behind the reception centre.

 

Enter the building, and turn to the left, the reception area is here. And behind the reception area, there is a 'funnel' in the Oriel. This funnel is use for reflect natural light downwards into the Siambr. Walk around the public gallery, there are some headphones in here, it is mainly used for to translation from English to Welsh, and the other function is that you can listen what the senators' speaking when they are meeting. Of course, the room of  Plenary meeting is in the ' funnel' . When i visited Senedd, it is meeting that time.

 

The Committee Room' s walls are the glass walls, i can see it is very clear what happened in the room. Why the Committee Room walls are glass walls? In my words, i think there are two purposes, such as the first purpose is that it can embodies the parliament's fairness because people can see and know the details of the meeting; and the last purpose is freedom of speech.

 

The last part is assembly shop. There you can buy any different shops, such as antiques, fareham farmers, feira rio antigo, first saturday arts, togo shrine, toulouse paper and toy.

 

This is my sentiment after visited.
